Super Sanctum TD
Description
Super Sanctum TD is a tower defense game. Unlike the main Sanctum series which mixes tower defense with first person shooting this game is a more traditional take on the genre that uses two dimensional isometric graphics. Each of the game's levels has a number of waves of aliens attempting to move from their spawn points to the player's core. The player constructs a network of towers in an attempt to prevent them from destroying the core. First the player places building blocks that decide the path that the aliens will take. Then towers are bought and placed on top of the blocks. Once done the movement phase begins and the towers will attack the aliens that appear within their range. As aliens are killed more resources are made available for spending on new towers or for upgrading present ones.
During the movement phase the player has access to skills that can be used to directly affect what is going on. Among the skills available are various bombs and mines that does damage on the aliens but also others such as the freeze skill which stops aliens in their tracks and the boost skill that gives extra punch to the selected towers. Each skill has a cooldown meaning the player has to wait a certain amount of seconds before it can be used again.
The game is made up of a campaign where levels are played through in sequence either on normal or hard difficulty. After one has been completed it can then be played in a survival mode where the aim is simply to stay alive as long as possible and get a spot on the global leaderboards. Before starting a level the player decides which towers and skills should be available. Initially only two spots are available but player's level increases more spots are made available. Only a few towers and skills are available from the start. The rest are unlocked by earning experience and levelling up. The game also has a perk system. For each level up one perk token is awarded and can be placed into one of five perk trees: physical towers, energy towers, economy, skills and effects.
