Survivalist

Survivalist is an open world RPG that takes place one year after the collapse of civilization. The player takes control of the self-centered hedge fund manager Joe Wheeler who emerges from his bunker in search for food. He also has diabetes and needs regular insulin shots. The game has a non-linear story and Wheeler gets to explore the world, scavenging resources such as food, meeting new people that become friends and foes, establishing a camp with other survivors and generally trying to survive as long as possible.

Many story elements introduce moral dilemmas. Next to scavenging and managing supplies, the game also involves trading, planting and harvesting crops, building up skills, constructing buildings, keeping out hordes of zombies and taking on various quests. Other characters have allegiances based on Wheeler's actions and choices during conversation. At camps after building up a community it becomes possible to control every character there through group management when it is not controlled by the AI. There is also combat against zombies. Wheeler can get infected and an antidote is very expensive.

The different options make the gameplay a mix of a role-playing game with real-time strategy elements. The game has online cooperative multiplayer.
