The Abyssal Zone
Description
The Abyssal Zone is a graphical adventure game for the Apple II.
The Atlantean ruler of the ocean has trapped a number of humans deeps beneath the waves. Your goal is to descend to the ocean depths to stop the Atlantean plot.
The player starts the game, having found themselves on a deserted tropical volcanic island that is preparing to erupt. The player has a limited number of turns to find all the useful items on the island, and then swim out to sea. From here the player will venture further towards the titular abyssal zone. Along the way the player finds helpful and less helpful characters to interact with.
This is a color graphic adventure game where the player must type VERB NOUN commands. Gameplay can be switched to purely text mode at any time. The game has a save/restore feature that allows the player to return to their game. The player must solve item based puzzles to accomplish the task. The player has limited time to complete the game due to hunger.
