The Alchemist Code

Game cover: The Alchemist Code

Description

The Alchemist Code is a fantasy role-playing game centered around tactical battles. The Gacha system for collecting characters allows users to collect hundreds of characters to allow for a large range of fighting styles and battle preferences.

The story features multiple chapters with new main characters for every chapter. The story takes place within the world of Babel, where each city is named for a deadly sin and the people of the world have banned alchemy. In each chapter, a new character is given the gift of alchemy after finding themselves at the gate of Oroboros, the ethereal guardian who chooses the pure hearts that deserve it.

Chapter One is the only one with two main characters; Logi and Dias, the primary protagonists of the game and adopted brothers who morally lean differently during a war. It takes Agatha, their adopted sister, to try to break up their fight, only for her to go missing and both brothers go on a hunt to find her. Chapter Two leads into meeting Edgar, who finds himself allied with Logi. Meanwhile, Chapter Three introduces Liz, who befriends Dias. The following chapters continue to introduce more characters as the story progressively ties closer together.

Battle in the game is turn-based. Characters all move in a unique set path the player is limited to, followed by choosing how to attack or defend after placing them. The gameplay features elemental attributes, such as water, fire, light, dark, earth, and thunder, which can make an attack weaker or stronger depending on the combo of the attacker element versus the element of the one being attacked. Characters are not limited to their attacks and the player is able to swap jobs for characters. As such, a character obtained as a healer can later be changed to a sniper class, leaving room for players to have hundreds of choices in their teams and gameplay.

A large part of the game is quests. While a player can always play as desired, there are often rewards for playing a certain way, such as a stage giving extra gems if the player beats it with only water-type characters, or beats it without using any heals. Aside from story quests, battle stages also come in special stages, endless modes, events, character quests, and more.
