The Amazon Race
Description
This brief newsgame attempts to communicate and convey the experience of a casual employee's first week working on the warehouse floor of an Amazon fulfillment centre. The core of the gameplay is reflex-based, twiddling the mouse or keyboard quickly enough to move to the right aisle of the warehouse where the desired item is, and then quickly identifying it -- often needing to distinguish it from many similar but different items. Players unsuccessful at picking their item within the short time limit will find their player suffering career setbacks. An additional layer to the game poses players with no-win choices (eg. when thirsty, to pause to drink water, negatively impacting their pick rate and standing with their employer, or to forego with the drink and suffer health consequences down the line.)
