The Battle of Kursk

Game cover: The Battle of Kursk

Description

The Battle of Kursk is a turn-based strategy game set during World War II. The game unfolds on single screens with three roads, and the player's tank is positioned on the middle one. The perspective is top-down. The other roads may be occupied by an enemy tank (only one per screen), and the objective is to advance and destroy as many enemy tanks as possible. Each turn follows the same procedure:

  1. The player sets the tank's speed between -5 and 10, determining the direction and distance the tank will move. If the tank reaches the screen's border, the next screen loads, and a new turn begins.

  2. The player rotates the tank's turret left or right and then enters a first-person view for fine adjustment. After firing a round, the game calculates whether the enemy was hit and damaged. The player can also choose not to fire. Afterwards, the computer-controlled enemy takes its turn.

Before starting a new game, the player selects their tank (either a German Panther or a Russian T-34) and chooses between three difficulty levels. There are four types of enemy tanks, ranging from light to heavy armor.
