The Berenstain Bears: Learn About Letters

Game cover: The Berenstain Bears: Learn About Letters

Description

The Berenstain Bears: Learn About Letters is an educational game designed to teach spelling. Before starting a new game, the player chooses between Sister Bear and Brother Bear. The child then navigates through the neighborhood on rollerblades. Each map screen has several exits, and the player decides which one to take. Often, there is a question to solve after entering a new screen: the game writes (and vocalizes through synthesized speech) a word, and the player must type in the first letter. Following this, a series of letters may appear; the goal is to collect them in the correct order of the alphabet. For example, the first choice may be between "A" and "D". After selecting "A", the next correct letter is "B" and so forth.

In some instances, the player may enter special screens. These either offer animations, word overviews (for instance, in the barn, the player can click on all the animals, and the game will vocalize their names) or mini-games. These mini-games include finding the correct letter on the keyboard, typing in a vocalized word, or identifying the lowercase or uppercase version of a letter.
