The Companion

A wolf spirit travels through a variety of levels experiencing and occasionally interacting with a family over the years as tragedy strikes.

The Companion is a walking Simulator game where the player must traverse a vast open space collecting items, activating rune stones and following wisps. By interacting with items a short ingame cutscene will present itself where the player hears the characters as they live their day to day lives. The player unlocks runic stones in order to unlock new abilities that further allow the player to interact with the world and the characters. In order to unlock runic stones or use the abilities unlocked the player must collect Essence which takes the form of glowing balls of light and is scattered generously throughout the game world. Describing itself as a guided experience if the player ever gets lost the ability to summon a wisp to guide them to the nearest area of progress is available. A "relaxation mode" where the player can listen to the game's soundtrack as the camera zooms in through the game world and its various levels in what is described as a "cinematic experience" is also available through the main menu..
