The Fog
Description
The Fog is a single player, mouse controlled game that plays partly as a point and click adventure and partly as a standard hidden object adventure, in other words some puzzles are solved by finding objects as the player moves from one location to the next while in other parts things are given as a reward for finding all the hidden objects in a scene.
The story starts with a mother and daughter driving through the night. They stop at a diner where, unnoticed by them, a face appears at the window watching them. They drive on but down the road spikes have been laid across the road causing a crash. When the mother wakes up her daughter has gone.
As the game progresses a story about another family losing their daughter unfolds, there are ghosts, secret military experiments, and diabolical deeds to uncover with some mild horror elements.
The game autosaves the player's progress and has a well implemented, but idiosyncratic, help system. The game can be played in full screen or in a window and hints can be toggled on or off. There are two modes of play, Novice and Expert, in the Expert mode the hint system takes longer to recharge and interactive areas are not highlighted.
