Description

The Hangtown Trilogy is a series of 3 short educational adventure games for the Apple II. Contains numerous puzzles, that require the player to solve short riddles or unscramble words to guess the identity of hidden items. Other puzzles are inventory based, and the game only accepts basic VERB NOUN commands.

In Farmtown, the player becomes stranded along a desolate section of highway. The player must explore a farm along the highway to gather 5 bottles which can be redeemed for a dollar. They must also bake stew for a farmer, allowing them to obtain a gas can. With this, the player can buy gas, and restart their stranded car.

In Pirate Island, you have been kidnapped by a band of pirates aboard their ship, while your mates have been locked up in the pirate brigade. To gather items, the player must solve word puzzles to determine the identity of the hidden item. Ultimately, the player must escape the ship, befriend a parrot, and help the starving hermit who lives on the island. With this, you rescue your crew and imprison the pirates.

In Hangtown, the player must search through a stereotypical wild west town in search of a variety of treasures. These treasures must be gathered and deposited at the hangman's noose in the center of town. During their exploration, the player must make tea for an Englishman, bludgeon a snake with a rock, and feed milk to a cat. A scoring system helps the player realize how many treasures are remaining.
