The Jolly Post Office

Description

The Jolly Post Office is an educational game for young children based on the books by Janet Ahlberg and Allan Ahlberg.

The game is naturally set in a village post office and consists of a series of mini games. Most of the games have one title in the CD manual and another in the game's README file (hence the aka names below);

  • Front Counter: This is the game's main menu. From here players can access mini games and configuration settings.
  • Mend Broken Parcels (aka Broken In The Post): A simple jigsaw puzzle.
  • Sort Letters (aka Match The Mail): A Concentration mini-game.
  • Send Postcards (aka Where's Jack?): This teaches simple geography, maps, countries and their flags.
  • How Many Stamps (aka Parcel Post): A maths game where players have to select stamps to the correct value.
  • Personalise stationery: Players design their own stationery.
  • Design Room: Here players can create their own stamps and save them in their stamp book.
  • World Stamp Book: Here players can view stamps that they have made. There is an internet feature which allows an online gallery to be viewed by other players.
