The Missing: A Search and Rescue Mystery is a hidden object game which also contains puzzles.
The story centres on a group of four students who, along with their professor, are on a remote Pacific island conducting weather research. The player takes the role of a rescue pilot who flies out in a major storm in response to a distress call.
The game has sound effects and music but no voice acting. It autosaves progress and has an optional tutorial at the start of the game as well as a hint system that needs time to recharge after it has been used. There is a skip option for the game's puzzles.
