The Realm of Nauga

The Realm of Nauga is a 1-player strategy game for the TRS-80 CoCo.

You are a lone adventurer now entering the kingdom of Volmar. You find a note reading, "To any who hear, I King Thomas II offer 1/4 of my kingdom for the return of my magic golden scepter". You go to the palace to speak with the King. He tells you the scepter is in Forest 3, 'The Realm of Nauga'. The King gives you a box containing two magic spells, and transports you to Forest 1.

The player explores 3 forests in real-time, and in each section tries to find the key to open a door to enter the next forest. Each forest is divided into 12 sections. In each level, the monsters become more aggressive, and the Nauga can be found in Forest 3. The forest contains trees and water, where trees can only be entered if the player possess a rope, and water can only be entered if the player possess a boat. The player can find swords, bows, healing, or magic as they explore.

The player can cast magic, which randomly either freezes the monsters, transports to a different section of the forest, or move to another spot in the same section. If the player takes too much damage, they are rescued by a friendly gnome, who may help heal the player.
