The Slate Quiz
Description
The Slate Quiz is a weekly online quiz run by the news website Slate, questioning players about a variety of that week's news stories and other interesting trivia. The quiz was originally edited by Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings, who would invite a Slate staff member or other notable figure to take the quiz, and regular players could measure their own results against that of the guest player. Jennings stepped down in 2017, with puzzle-maker Ray Hamel taking over but continuing the rotating panel of guests. Each quiz is 12 questions, with players clicking on what they think is the correct answer and the game highlighting the right and wrong choices. Players are timed on how long it takes them to answer each question, earning more points for answering in a shorter amount of time.
The quiz went on hiatus for most of 2018, relaunching in November of that year using a new plug-in. Games using that plug-in are not freely accessible to non-subscribers.
