Theocracy

Description
Theocracy is a single-player 4X turn-based strategy game. Set on an undiscovered world, the player assumes command of a fledgling theocracy that begins with a single Holy Land. From this base the aim is to expand across pagan territories, confront rival theocrats, and guide the faith toward dominance through exploration, conversion, and warfare. The map opens as unexplored, and regions can be brought under control either by military conquest or by spreading religious influence.
Turn by turn, the player moves armies, attacks enemies, chooses research, assigns regional production, and enacts doctrinal edicts known as dogmas. Management focuses on regions rather than cities: fortifications and shrines can be placed at key locations to secure borders and project influence, while discoveries in knowledge advance the civilization’s capabilities. The overall objective is to accumulate Victory Points, with milestones tied to religious reach and decisive achievements. Progress is quantified by Victory Points, with a standard match ending when a side reaches 100.
Conversion is powered by a dedicated resource called Power. Power radiates outward from controlled regions, shrines, holy men, and certain interventions, gradually turning adjacent tiles and neighboring regions to the player’s faith. Accumulated Power is also spent to enact dogmas and to invoke miracles, so expanding infrastructure and positioning spiritual assets is central to territorial growth.
Conventional warfare coexists with the spiritual game. Armies are recruited and maneuvered across the world to capture regions and to break enemy strongholds, while defensive works slow incursions and shape front lines. Military action and peaceful conversion can be used in parallel. Miracles function as one-off or situational abilities that alter the map or swing battles. Examples include summoning monsters or holy men to assist, striking advancing armies, causing volcanic eruptions, darkening the sky with a solar eclipse, or even triggering the Apocalypse.
