Time Lord

Game cover: Time Lord

Description

Time Lord is a strategy adventure game for the Apple II based upon the television show Doctor Who.

A fallen Time Lord, whom is called "The Master" by lesser races, is at large. The elders of Waldrom have supplied you with the hyperspace-worthy vessel TARDIS, and commissioned you to eliminate the evil "Master".

Gameplay is divided into hyperspace and real space components. In hyperspace, the player comes under regular attack from alien creatures. These can be fired upon in an arcade sequence by moving a crosshair, or the player can set the game to automatically track and fire upon enemy creatures. In hyperspace, the player can plot their course to explore 26 different solar systems, each of which contains a number of planets.

The player enters real space with their TARDIS to land on different planets. Upon exiting a vessel, the player can explore the local geography from a top down perspective. The player has a number of clones which assist the player in carrying supplies and aid in combat, and as the player takes damage, clones are lost. Clones must also be supplied with food. On the planet's surface, the player encounters abandoned vessels which provide resources that can be traded at towns. There are also underground tombs to be explored, which offer combat with monsters, as well as resources to acquire.

The player must hunt for clues to The Master's location, and engage him in a final conflict.
