To the Rhine: A Computer Game of the Allied Advance in the West

Description

To the Rhine: A Computer Game of the Allied Advance in the West is a 1 - 2 player strategic wargame based upon the Allied advance on the Western Front of World War II from 29 August to 11 December, 1944.

Players take the viewpoint of the theater commanders, Eisenhower and Rundstedt, and are responsible for their decisions. Game play is divided into Allied and German turns follows by a combat resolution phase. During their turn, the player can examine intelligence on opposing forces, check the general report on the results of the previous turn's activities, and examine the current status of their own forces. They can also allocate supply, replacements, and air power for the Allies. Players can also issue orders for their individual forces. The computer automatically resolves combats as they occur. Each turn of the game represents seven days.

There are five scenarios: the historical scenario, one simulating a bridgehead resulting from a landing at the Pas de Calais, one simulating better Allied supply, one simulating a better Luftwaffe, and a shorter version of the historical scenario.

The game includes 2 sets of playing pieces and situation maps for both players. A computer opponent can act as a player for either side.
