Tōhōken Bunroku
Description
Yes, that's not quite how the Japanese title of "The Travels of Marco Polo" is supposed to be written. That's because the title of Natsume's first game is not a misspelling of that book, but the name of this game's protagonist. The titular Tōhōken Bunroku is a university student researching time travel for his thesis. At the beginning of the game, he travels through time (and apparently space) to Venice, 1275 to meet a young Marco Polo at the beginning of his proselytizing travel to the East with his father Niccolo. While accompanying young Marco to China, Bunroku gradually derails the timeline in increasingly bizarre and radical ways.
This Japanese-style adventure game plays just like its peers in the genre, with first person view and a list of actions to carry out in any situation. The 2 more notable actions of this game are "Switch Character" to switch between your 2 playable characters - Bunroku and Marco - and "Punch", a high-risk action that - despite being necessary to progress the game - if used in the wrong places, can lead to an abrupt game over.
