Tonko 3

Description

Tonko 3 attempts to walk the middle ground between the first and the second game in the series. This platformer is composed of one-screen stages, which the yellow goblin Tonko must clear out of enemies. As opposed to the second installment, Tonko can defend himself by hitting enemies with the hammer he wielded in the first game. The hammer can also be upgraded and replaced by more powerful weapons found in the stages. A contact with an enemy takes away one life and any non-default weapon Tonko may have been equipped with at the time.

The emphasis on combat makes the game feel less than the puzzle-oriented second entry. However, Tonko is still fairly vulnerable and retains the abilities to hide in trash cans and flush himself down toilets, which have been introduced in the previous game. New features include coin-collecting and moving platforms.
