Treasure Gear

Description

Shade and Flat are a pair of treasure hunters who make their living exploring the ancient ruins of ancient magic civilizations looking for items and relics to sell. One day, after venturing into a particularly dangerous dungeon, one of them is afflicted with a death curse, and it's up to their partner to seek the so-called "Fruit of Life" to save their life.

Treasure Gear is a rogue-like RPG which takes the formula of Mystery Dungeon and adds action elements reminiscent of Gauntlet. The player can freely move and perform actions without being locked to a grid; time (and therefore enemies) however only moves when the player does, allowing for much more granular control and strategy during combat. The gameplay consists of entering various randomly-generated dungeons, fighting monsters and searching for items, with the goal of reaching the top floor of each dungeon, recovering a special item, and returning to the entrance.

The player chooses from either a male (Shade) or female (Flat) character, with the one not chosen afflicted with the curse. Lele Village acts as the base, where the player can gather information, store items, change equipment, and enter one of three different dungeons. Different types of job classes can be learned and equipped; while levels are reset upon entering a dungeon, job XP is cumulative, and when a job is maxed it can be equipped as a secondary sub class, allowing for significant strategy to character builds.
