Treasure Park
Description
A bite sized puzzle game that launched with the PlayStation Vita. In it players try to find treasure on a color coded grid using the logic of minesweeper. The game heavily relied on the now defunct PlayStation Near function of the PlayStation Vita, making it so no more puzzles can be downloaded.
Treasure Park is a free puzzle game Released early in the handheld's lifecycle. It was positioned as a lightweight social experience rather than a full commercial title. It is notable for its integration with the PlayStation Vita's network features, particularly the now-discontinued Near functionality. The game is structured around mechanics similar to Minesweeper: players create small grid-based puzzles by hiding treasure and bombs beneath color-coded tiles, then share those puzzles with others. Recipients use limited clues to locate the valuable tiles while avoiding hazards, earning medals and incremental rewards for successful attempts.
The game emphasizes asynchronous interaction. Players can exchange puzzles with friends on their PlayStation Network friends list or obtain randomly generated puzzles from nearby users via Near. Progress and achievements are displayed in an in-app social feed that allows others to leave comments or "like" updates. This system encourages daily use.
Due to the shutdown of the Near service, core functionality is no longer available. While the puzzle-creation tools remain, new puzzles can no longer be distributed or retrieved.
