Unplugged

Description

Unplugged is a fixed-screen shoot 'em up in which the player controls a plug in a sink. The controls use the standard twin-stick style (one stick controls movement and the other aim) and the plug can be moved freely around the sink (the exception is the drain which violently throws back the player when touched). This game's special gimmick is that the water constantly flows into the drain and the vortex movements influences plug, enemies and bullets alike. The water movements are visualized with psychedelic effects which can be deactivated at any time because they may cause motion sickness.

Gameplay is wave based: enemies enter the screen and only if all are beaten, the next ones appear. The exact task changes frequently, but the game usually switches between boss battles (e.g. cheese with hands or big pieces of soap) and fruit battles. During the latter, a number of different fruit are thrown into the water and need to be shot down before they enter the drain. Sometimes the obstacles have no enemies and only require to survive, e.g. spikes appear on all sides of the screen and the player needs to avoid touching them while the water strength and direction changes.

The game is over when all lives are lost. This happens when a fruit enters the drain or if something else than the drain is touched.
