VS. Super Mario Bros.

Nintendo took a selection of games for the Nintendo Entertainment System and converted them into arcade machines called the Nintendo VS. Series. They weren't just ports, however, as they were different games in their own right, with increased difficulty and altered levels. One of the chosen games was Super Mario Bros.

Most of the layout is the same, but harder enemies are encountered at the beginning of the game. Some levels are replaced by their counterparts from The Lost Levels. Other changes have also been made. Power-ups have been reduced, warping is limited, and the coin counter has three digits, among various other changes.
