Wari

Wari is one of a package of games produced by The Code Zone. Games from this package were used, in various combinations, in around twenty different game compilation packages.

Wari is a single-player, strategy game where the object is capture more pieces than the computer opponent. This is a traditional game that is played throughout western Africa and which also goes under the names Oware, Ayò, Awalé, Ouri, Ouril, Uril, Warri, Adji, Nchọ and Awélé. As can be expected of a game that is played over such a wide geographic area there are variations on the basic game. In this version each player has sixteen seeds distributed across the row of six pits in front of them. At the end of each row is the player's home pit. Players take it in turn to move the seeds out of one pit clockwise into the adjacent pits. All seeds landing in the home pit stay there, if the last seed played lands in the home pit the player gets another turn. The game ends when a player has no more seeds to move, at that point the player with the most seeds in their home pit wins.

The game is entirely mouse controlled. It is played in a window which cannot be re-sized. The game has sound, four levels of difficulty, in-game help screens, and a choice of playing piece, colour and screen background.
