Description

Well of Souls is a multiplayer online role-playing game which can optionally be played single-player and offline. The game comes with one fantasy world named Evergreen, but players can create their own levels, monsters, items, spells, and quests. In the world of Evergreen, the player is tasked with restoring peace by defeating the evil Black Wrath and his minions.

Like many other RPGs, this one focuses heavily on combat as a means to progress one's character. Enemies are encountered randomly as the player moves around the world, with each region being home to different monsters. Once in combat, attacks and spells are carried out by simply clicking on the target after selecting the weapon, spell, or item to be used. The pace of combat is not quite turn-based, as there is no set turn order. It is not truly real-time either, because only one action can be taking place at any given moment, with the rest of the combatants' attacks being queued to happen after the current one has finished.

The game features a class system which determines how good a character is at magic or hand-to-hand combat, starting weapon proficiencies, as well as health and mana growth. There are a variety of weapon types including swords, fists, bows, darts, books, spirits, staffs, and musical instruments, each with their own associated skill to be leveled. In addition, there are eight elements of magic, each one having a separate list of spells. Enemies are also aligned elementally, so a fire spell would work well against a water-type monster for example.

Well of Souls also contains a number of mini-games, ranging from a slot-machine, to monster racing, a simulated stock market, pet taming and raising, and even a tactical RPG. Pets that have been tamed and trained can accompany the player in battle, attacking his enemies and casting spells of their own volition.
