World Airports
Description
As most expansion packs to MS Flight Simulator, World Airports 2 can either be used for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 or Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002. With a patch available from JustFlight, it can optionally be used with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight, instead of the FS2002 installation.
It contains a detailed scenery of the following nine international airports :
- Atlanta Hartsfield International (KATL)
- Bari Palese (LIBD)
- Dallas-Fort Worth International (KDFW)
- Los Angeles International (KLAX)
- Manchester International (EGCC)
- Newark International (KEWR)
- Orlando International (KMCO)
- Philadelphia International (KPHL)
- Rome Fiumicino (LIRF)
The included airports have printed maps and terminal charts in a separate manual, to use for proper approach/departure.
There is also a list of 48 pre-made flightplan files to fly between these airports, usable with airliner FMC:s.
For parking, there is either an automatic docking guidance or a marshaller use to wave you in to the right spot.
Once parked in the right spot, there is a docking gate system 'jetdock' that can try to find the door to you airliner, so the passengers won't have to jump out. The 'jetdock' is activated on special frequencies; several Boeing, Airbus, MD models are supported.
Ground service vehicles can be called up, like baggage car/loaders, food trucks, once the jetdock is in place.
For Manchester, Philadelphia and Newark airports, there are de-icing holding areas, accessible in a similar way as 'jetdock', to use before takeoff.
In FS2002 and FS2004, an included follow-me vehicle can be driven around the airport, by selecting it as your 'aircraft', to watch the action up close.
