World Empire II

Description
World Empire II is the forerunner of World Empire III and World Empire IV and aside from having fewer features it plays in much the same way. The game can be played with another person or against the computer. It consists of just two screens, the World Screen Map which is where all computer play takes place and the Continent Screen Map which is where the player fights individual battles.
It is the first version of the game to play under Windows and features one hundred and thirty-nine countries, double that of the previous version. This is a shareware Risk-like game in which the player starts as the ruler of one country and sets out to rule the world playing against up to six computer opponents at once.
In this game world opinion has coalesced into four political movements The Populist Movement; The Militarist Ideology; The Socialist Ideology and The Realist Movement. The player starts the game with fifty-six divisions in a random country and expands by conquering and assimilating other countries. The player starts the game having been assigned to one of the four main political movements. A randomly selected number of other countries around the world are also assigned to the same movement, these are not allies but they will be easier to conquer than countries aligned with opposing movements.
