World of Final Fantasy

Game cover: World of Final Fantasy

Description

World of Final Fantasy is a single-player role-playing game. The story follows twin siblings, Lann and Reynn, who awaken in a mysterious land without memories of their past. Guided by a small creature named Tama, they learn they once had the power to command Mirages, magical monsters that inhabit the world of Grymoire. To reclaim their memories and understand their purpose, the twins embark on a journey across Grymoire’s diverse regions, encountering characters and locations from across the Final Fantasy series while opposing a looming threat to the realm.

The game’s world is presented in a chibi art style, where familiar heroes and villains from the series appear in miniature form. Exploration takes players across towns, dungeons, and world maps where they can interact with characters, gather items, and trigger story events. Random and visible encounters with Mirages populate these areas, initiating turn-based battles that combine traditional Final Fantasy mechanics with a unique stacking system.

In combat, Lann and Reynn can shift between two forms: Jiant form, resembling standard human proportions, or Lilikin form, a smaller chibi style. These transformations determine how they stack with captured Mirages. Battles are fought using an Active Time Battle system where characters wait for their turn to act, using attacks, magic, and items. By stacking Mirages on top of the twins, the party’s stats, abilities, and resistances are combined, creating stronger formations.

Mirages are captured during battle through special conditions and then added to the player’s collection. Once tamed, they can be leveled up, taught abilities, and evolved into stronger forms through Mirage Boards that resemble skill trees. Players can freely reorganize their stacks, experimenting with different combinations of Mirages.

Progression involves both the main questline and optional side quests offered by characters across Grymoire. Some side activities feature familiar figures from previous Final Fantasy games who join temporarily or offer special challenges. Coliseum battles provide another way to fight rare Mirages and earn rewards. Inventory management is tied to captured Mirages, items, and equipment that support exploration and combat.
