xmine

xmine is a rather faithful clone of Minesweeper for the X Window System on Linux and various Unix-based Operating Systems. Like the original, the goal is to locate all mines in a grid, by carefully testing squares. After a square is tested, it will report the number of mines in the adjacent squares. Empty squares tested will automatically expand until bounded by squares near mines. Based on the displayed numbers, the user needs to infer the correct location of mines and flag them, before testing additional squares.

Like the original, this can be played in beginner, intermediate, or advanced sizes. It also allows the user to customize a difficulty by setting both the grid dimensions and the number of mines.
