ModernGroove Entertainment, Inc. was co-founded by John Stroppa and Adrian Crook in 1999. Although incorporated in the State of Nevada (USA), the research and development activities took place in the company's Vancouver, Canada, studio.
The company was a developer of interactive entertainment software for personal computers and videogame consoles. ModernGroove worked on developing a stream cache system that would bypass the overcrowded Internet to deliver content without interruption even at peak hours. The company hoped to provide direct streaming content (especially music) to and from the users system to the internet (similar to Electronic Arts' Live technology).
Moderngroove: Ministry of Sound Edition (2001) was the only game completed by the company.
Due to excessive development research expenses, the company ran out of working capital and eventually closed in late 2001. At that time, the company reported having a staff of over 50 artists, engineers, producers, and business personnel.
