Beneath the Lighthouse
Description
Beneath the Lighthouse is an action puzzle game about a young boy who is looking for his grandfather. The game consists of several levels with a time limit where the player has to maneuver a boy indirectly by manipulating the circular room where the boy is contained in. No direct control over the boy can be influenced, the player can only rotate the surrounding circle left or right and then gravity and physics do the rest. The gameplay has elements of Roly Poly, one of Nitrome's earlier games, and it returns to the art style of Ditto.
Each room has various hazards and obstacles that need to be avoided. Levels usually consist of three connected rooms that need to be completed within the time limit and without losing all of the three lives. Finishing a single area acts as a checkpoint as long as there are lives left to continue. When all lives are gone the entire set of areas of a single level needs to be replayed. In some areas it is possible to replenish lives.
For Android and iOS the game is free-to-play with a single in-app purchase to upgrade to the premium version and remove the lives system altogether. Optionally it is possible to watch video advertisements or share on social media to earn extra lives. There is no stamina/energy system that forces the player to wait; each level can be replayed right away with three lives. The tvOS version is a commercial release with the infinite lives by default.
