Bird of Prey

Bird of Prey is a 1-player arcade game for the VIC-20.

Prince Rupert has inherited the throne of the mountain kingdom of Lauritania. Life in the kingdom is prosperous and happy. With man living in harmony with the birds and the beasts with their king the Great Eagle of the North. The Prince's cousin the evil Baron Von Fritz is planning to destroy the realm of Lauritania and turn it to ways of evil.

To aid him in his plans, the Baron has entered an alliance with the Demon of the Fire Pit. To seal the pact the Baron must sacrifice Prince Rupert to the Fire Demon. The Baron intends to do this by throwing Prince Rupert from the plane into the Fire Pit. But, the Eagle of the North is on hand to rescue Prince Rupert, and take him to safety of his aerie.

The player controls a large bird that flaps to gain altitude and moves laterally. Fire bombs fall from the top of the screen and then roll along the platforms on the screen. If the bombs strike the bottom center platform they explode into a temporary fire pit. The player tries to pick up Prince Rupert from the screen and bring him to the aerie at the top left of the screen. The player must avoid fire bombs, The Baron's airplane, and the fire pit, and it's game over with a single hit.
