Blackout

Game cover: Blackout

Description

Blackout is a single-player, shareware, mouse-controlled game that is described as 'a fun way to learn how to use the mouse'.

The game starts with a game area full of multicoloured tiles some of which contain a target symbol. The coloured tiles change colour but when one of them turns black it stays black. The player's task is to click on all of the target tiles to complete the level before all the other tiles turn black. In addition to the target tiles there are other special tiles;* Bonus tiles. These are coloured tiles that, briefly, change to show a bonus which range from 2X to 5X, clicking on these boosts the player's score. Clicking on a bonus tile just after it has changed back to a coloured tile causes it and surrounding tiles to turn black.

  • A Replay Arrow. This consists of a tile showing three chevrons. This tile moves rapidly and randomly around the screen, clicking on it causes all black tiles to become coloured again however, as with the bonus tiles, clicking and missing causes more tiles to turn black.

  • The Boogeyman: This is a black tile with a blue face in it, it bounces around the screen occasionally restoring targets that the player had removed. When it appears the player is unable to score until they click on it and remove it.
