Brain Teasers: Volume One

Description
In the early 2000's the Times Newspaper released a series of 'Times Testing' books published by Kogan Page. CR-ROMs based on these books were released and Brain Teasers: Volume One is one of these, other titles include Brain Teasers: Volume Two, Test Your IQ, Test Your Aptitude, and Psychometric Tests
There are two types of test available in this title;
- The Brain Teaser Test: In this test the player can choose between twenty and forty questions; select a time limit of ten, thirty, sixty minutes or no time limit at all; and choose between no sound, a ticking clock or a 'stress' sound.
- Masterclass: Here there is no player choice, the fixed format test consists of twenty questions and the time limit is thirty minutes.
Question types include pattern, letter and number sequences, anagrams, mental arithmetic, synonyms, antonyms, and comprehension (a pen and paper are recommended). When a player completes a test, of either type, and assuming there is some time remaining they can review their answers to check those they submitted or to have another attempt at the ones they skipped. When the test is complete the player is given their score and, where they have answered incorrectly, they can review the correct answers which have an accompanying explanation stating why they are the right answer.
The game is played in full screen mode throughout, some answers are multiple choice and can be answered using the mouse while others require a typed response. There is a 'Hall of Fame' which shows player scores but creating a player id is optional. Internet Explorer 5 or above is a system requirement, Internet Explorer 6 is supplied with the game.
