Cathode Raybots

Game cover: Cathode Raybots

Description

Cathode Raybots is a sandbox platform game where the player can choose to fight raybots made by other players online or build their own raybot for other players to fight.

The year is 2101 and humans have trashed televisions into space. As revenge, televisions have united against humanity and started a war.

If the player chooses their allegiance to be human, they can choose to fight levels of television robots (raybots) that were made by other players. Each level generally contains 3 raybots to fight with, one after the another. You control your character with the arrow keys, use A to fire normal energy projectiles or supercharged ones if you've waited long enough, and S to use a flamethrower. The flamethrower does not affect the delay to fire supercharged projectiles. The player partially regains part of their HP after beating a raybot, if there is a next one. The player can also fight individual raybots in the database.

If the player chooses their allegiance to be a raybot, they can build a raybot for other players to fight with. This includes changing their appearence (changing their arms, hats and especially their face, that can be manually drawn inside a pixelated square), their weapons (include energy blaster, bombs, vertical ray, energy aura, laser sword, and teleportation), and their pattern, which is done by moving your raybot around and shooting just like you would while playing with a human, except the raybot will always do that same movements every time someone fights against it. The raybot can then be tested, saved and shared online so other players can also fight it as humans.

Choosing your allegiance is not permanent and can be easily changed by simply moving back to the main menu: A player can choose to be a human first then try out making their own raybot, and vice-versa.
