Dakar 2007
Description
Dakar 2007 is a racing game based around the annual Dakar desert rally that was held between 6th and 21st January 2007 from Lisbon to Dakar. Players race fifteen stages in the Rally mode, covering Lisbon, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Mali, Senegal and finally Dakar. Once a stage is completed it can also be accessed in the Time Trial mode.
Racing is done from a first-person perspective with many elements in the HUD such as the progress for the distance, the current time and the best time, speed and gear, remaining fuel, and damage to the engine and the wheels. The player has access to acceleration, braking, and steering the car left and right. By pressing lightly on the brake and then a directional arrow it is possible to skid. There are obstacles on the track that need to be dodged to prevent damage to the car. The track has pick-ups that replenish fuel or repair damage. Arrows provide guidance for turns. There are also jumps and sometimes the road branches into two paths: one dangerous and fast, the other easier and slower.
