Description

Darkest Hour: Europe '44-'45 is a tactical first-person shooter add-on set in the European Theater of World War II. Building on Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45, it thrusts players into authentic battlegrounds across France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and beyond - from Normandy and Market Garden to the Ardennes - immersing them in fierce multiplayer combat between Allied and Axis forces.

Gameplay retains the core mechanics of its parent game while dramatically expanding its depth and realism. Players assume the roles of infantry or tank crew from a wide array of factions, including American, British, Canadian, Polish, Soviet, German, and Italian units - and engage in objective‑driven multiplayer matches ranging from attacking to defending strategic points. The mod adds over 20 period firearms, such as the M1 Garand, PIAT, FG 42, Bren LMG, Thompson, and Panzerschreck - alongside crewable vehicles like Shermans, Cromwells, M18 Hellcats, King Tigers, and more. Enhancements to lethality and immersion include supersonic bullet cracks, detailed armor penetration modeling (e.g., APDS, HEAT), suppression effects, shell shock, wall mantling, playable mortars, deployable radiomen, and localized limb damage.
