Deflex / ROX

Description

Sold together as a bundle for the unexpanded VIC-20, Deflex and ROX are a continuation of some the earliest games written by Jeff Minter, originally on the Commodore PET.

Deflex is a Deflection clone with a twist, also released on the Sinclair ZX81. Instead of static mirrors, the deflectors or bats flip as they are hit by the ball. You place deflectors in the location the ball is at the time of placement and the ball immediately changes direction. The aim is to hit 15 targets (1 to F) in the least amount of time and there are 20 difficulty levels, with the option of moving targets.

In ROX the objective is to protect your moon base on the planet's surface in the lower center of the screen from falling meteors or "ROX" from space. Your base has a three way laser to defend itself and if the surface is penetrated through by the meteors, the game is lost.
