Description
Die Nacht des grünen Meteors is a graphical, point-and-click adventure game to celebrate the launch of the German video game magazine PC Spiel. On the night of the launch party, a meteor strikes down near the German town of Eschwege, where the editorial offices of publisher Tronic-Verlag are located. While Tom, a member of the editorial team, thinks it's quite common for heavenly bodies to announce significant events, he's confused when he finds the publishing house's door locked and a window broken. Having brought only a camcorder to shoot a video of the celebrations, Tom has to figure out what happened.
There are three actions players can take: look, use, and talk. One of these verbs has to be used for every action in the game, even the exit button has to be "used" to quit the game. The mouse cursor is a frowning face, turning into a smile when located over an interactive screen element. An inventory with slots for thirteen items is available, with items that are no longer useful being discarded automatically.
The game was included as a bonus on the cover CD-ROM of the first issue of PC Spiel. It was written and drawn by Mathias Neumann, who is also the author of the Space-Rat cartoon serialized in PC Spiel and its predecessor magazine, ASM.
