DuckTales: The Lucky Dime

DuckTales: The Lucky Dime is a board game in which you take on the role of Dagobert Duck (Scrooge McDuck). He must retrieve his Lucky Dime that was stolen last night by Magica, who, together with the Heavy Boys (Beagle Boys), paid a late-night visit to his Money Bin.

The aim of the game is to move yourself across the game board by throwing a dice. Along the way you can encounter a number of different obstacles. These obstacles can be of service to you or work against you. Like enemies, Witches/Heavy Boys who will ask you money and intersections (depending on whether the number is even or odd, you go one way or the other). There are also villages where you can eat or sleep, get information or play tic-tac-toe for money. It is also possible to buy weapons, shields and items here.

Fighting is based on throwing dice. How many dice you throw can be seen from your attack point. For example, if it says 2D + 4, that means you throw 2 dice and that another 4 points are added to the total of those 2 dice. Your defence point is simply expressed as a number. This number stops all throws of the opponent that are smaller than or equal to this number. If the opponent throws a higher number, the result is that you lose a certain number of hit points.

In the battle menu you can choose from three options;

• "Attack": you may first throw a certain number of dice (depending on your attack point). The number of pips you throw is added up and the remaining value, which is behind the term "?D +", is also added up. Now the defence point of your opponent is subtracted from your throw. The result is the absolute total that you beat off your opponent. Now it's the opponent's turn to throw. This works in the same way.

• "Escape": If you attempt an escape, the attempt may fail. You will now lose a turn.

• "Use Item": Use a purchased or found item. if you use an item, you must skip a turn.

A level that has been completed can be skipped using a password that you receive at the end.
