DunQuest: Majin Fūin no Densetsu

Description

DunQuest: Majin Fūin no Densetsu is an action RPG dungeon crawler. The game takes place on Laster island, several hundred years after an evil demon god who wreaked havoc on the land was sealed away by a legendary hero. In the present day, the king of the land begins assembling various warriors, fearing that the demon's seal may be broken. One of these warriors is the game's playable character (the name is chosen by the player) who the player must guide across four different dungeons. The player must complete various quests to become strong enough to take on the dragon should the seal be broken.

The castle town of the game serves as the game's hub, where the player can talk to various characters who guide them on their objectives and stock up on resources such as items and weapons to take into the dungeons. The player must go back and forth between the four game's four dungeons and complete different objectives, such as fighting a boss or talking to a certain character. Each dungeon is divided into thirty five floors, and the player must find the stairs on each floor to go down to the next floor. There are chests that can be opened on each floor as well as trap tiles which can be stepped on. The floors are not randomized unlike many other dungeon crawlers. The player controls the protagonist in a 2D, top down perspective.

The player can engage in combat with enemies throughout each dungeon in real time. The player can attack enemies directly with a sword but also with various magic spells. Defeating an enemy only provides experience points for that particular enemy type, meaning that they will become easier to defeat, but other enemies will remain the same. The weapons and armor obtained also improve as they are used, although they are capped at a certain limit. The player does not level up from defeating enemies, bur rather from completing main quests. The player can allocate the stat bonuses between attack, magic and defense to their choosing, although they will always receive health increases.
