Dragon Quest

Dragon Quest is a 1-player role-playing game for the BBC Micro.

The player enters a dark dungeon with the goal of killing a dragon and reaching level 2 by gaining 1,000 experience points.

At the beginning of the game the player rolls statistics from: strength, intelligence, wisdom, constitution, dexterity, and charisma. The player can also choose a class, either warrior or magician. At the beginning of each adventure, the player starts with gold, and the ability to purchase up to seven items from food, weapons, armor, light, and spells.

Upon starting the adventure, the player moves about in the dark unless they have a light source. Rooms can be individually illuminated. The player moves north, south, east or west; rooms are graphically displayed on the screen. In combat, the monster is displayed on the screen, and the player each turn can attack or flee the creature. The player receives experience for successful combat, and can gain treasures.

The player can further drink potions, eat food to heal, and listen to doors before entering rooms to look for monsters.
