Enemy Mind

Description

Enemy Mind is a side-scrolling space shooter with a twist: instead of controlling a spaceship, the player controls a "being of pure psychic energy" that can take over any enemy spaceship. Besides simply destroying enemy ships while avoiding their shots, players are encouraged to skip from one ship to another as they progress through the levels.

Ships can move up, down, left or right on the screen. Most of them can also be flipped to shoot backwards. There are two actions available, fire weapon and activate jump. When the jump command is activated, the ship becomes briefly inoperative and the character's mind is projected toward the direction the player is facing. If a ship is on its way, this new ship is taken over and the abandoned one resumes its normal activity, unless all ammo was depleted, in which case the abandoned ship remains inoperative. The game features more than 20 different ships, each one with its specific weapons and hull strength.

The game has 8 levels that once beaten can be freely accessed from the main menu to be played in any order. Each level is divided in waves with a final boss at the end of the last wave. If players die, they will be sent to the beginning of the wave being played. If all lives are lost, the game is over. New lives are gained by scoring points. A multiplier is added to the score counter the more enemy ships the player destroys without being hit.

The game features pixelated graphics, chiptune-inspired soundtrack, multiple endings and unlockable extra game modes, such as a Flappy Bird clone. High scores can be compared on a leaderboard.
