EthnoGuessr

Description

EthnoGuessr is a guessing game inspired by the format of GeoGuessr, but focusing on human ethnicities. Each round presents players with composite images representing male and female facial averages from a particular ethnic group, and the task is to pick their origin location on an interactive world map. After submitting a guess, players receive the intended answer, points based on proximity of the player's guess to the intended answer, and background details (history of the ethnic group, physical traits, and anthropological literature history). The game was created to promote the "Human Biodiversity" theory (which, in mainstream anthropology, is considered fringe and crypto-racist); as such, the ethnic group classifications and descriptions reflect an early-to-mid-20th-century physical anthropology approach, which is considered outdated by mainstream anthropology.

In the standard game mode, the game presents players with 10 randomly selected ethnicities every day. Other modes include: a "Challenge" mode covering 38 major ethnic groups; race-specific modes focusing on particular regions or populations; and an "EthnoGuessr Countries" mode where players guess ethnicities based on modern-day country borders, rather than geographical regions.
