EthnoGuessr
Description
EthnoGuessr is a guessing game inspired by the format of GeoGuessr, but focusing on human ethnicities. It is similar to the slightly earlier game also named EthnoGuessr.
Each round presents players with composite images representing facial averages from a particular ethnic group, and the task is to pick their origin location on an interactive world map. After submitting a guess, players receive the intended answer, some points, and background details (history of the ethnic group, physical traits, and anthropological literature history). The score is based both on the proximity of the player's guessed location to the intended answer, and the time taken for the answer. By default, the player gets a time limit of 30 seconds for every question, and if the time runs out the score for this guess is zero.
The game was created to promote the "Human Biodiversity" theory (which, in mainstream anthropology, is considered fringe and crypto-racist); as such, the ethnic group classifications and descriptions reflect an early-to-mid-20th-century physical anthropology approach, which is considered outdated by mainstream anthropology. In accordance with this view, the game offers an optional "IQ Guessing" mode, where the player must not only guess each group's geographical location, but also its "average IQ" (according to the work of self-described "scientific racist", psychologist Richard Lynn).
The game contains several difficulty levels. On "Very Easy", players are presented with both male and female facial averages for every ethnic group. On "Easy" and above, only one sex is shown. On "Normal", the face composite is shown zoomed in and needs to be scrolled to see it in its entirety. On "Hard", the face composite is broken up into 9 scrambled parts. On the highest difficulty level, named "Racebolt", only a few fragments of the face are shown.
