Five Spheres of Goliath

Five Spheres of Goliath is a science fiction-themed text adventure for the BBC Micro.

It is the year 2150 A.D., and the human race has ventured into deep space in search of new worlds to colonize. Vast ships, thousands of meters in length, are being constructed many miles above the Earth's surface. These ships serve another purpose however. As well as functioning as research vehicles, others are used to transport dangerous criminals to distant prisons built on planets many light-years from Earth.

The player is a prisoner on the Goliath. Over two miles long, the ship has long since left the Earth's solar system on its long journey to Gamma Minor, an icy, alien world on the very edge of space. The cell in which the player has been held the last three months is small, cramped, and uncomfortable. Even at 20 times the speed of light, the journey will take many more months. One morning, however, the player awakes to find the ship at rest and no other sign of human activity. The Goliath has been abandoned. The player must escape from their prison cell and find the reason for the apparent abandonment.
