Description
Gold Rush is a 1-player puzzle game for the VIC-20
It's 1848 in California, recently lost by Mexico to the U. S. A. after war. J. W. Marshall finds gold while building saw mill near John Sutter's Mill. By 1949, 1000's of men were making the long journey by ship or overland seeking their fortune, fighting Indians, hunger, and the most deadly killer cholera.
During the adventure, the player travels by ship and rowboat to reach California, and then the search for gold on land begins. The player must contend with flagmen signalling clues, ducks to shoot for lunch, and pots of gold to find en route. There are a total of 3 groups of 3 challenges that lead to the final challenge.
A monetary reward was awarded to the first player to find the word hidden in the puzzle.
