Half-Life: Alyx

Half-Life: Alyx is a first-person VR shooter and a prequel to Half-Life 2, taking place five years before the arrival of Gordon Freeman in City 17. For the first time in the series, the player assumes the role of Alyx Vance, then a 19-year-old member of the Resistance working to subvert the rule of the alien Combine. When Alyx discovers the existence of a vault that supposedly contains a superweapon, she sets out to claim it for the Resistance, setting in motion a chain of events that will have drastic consequences on her future.

The game features the classic hallmarks of the Half-Life series: exploration and puzzle-solving within a linear narrative. Unlike Gordon Freeman, Alyx is a voiced protagonist and will comment on her surroundings as well as have audible dialogue with other characters. Her Gravity Gloves, similar to Half-Life 2's Gravity Gun, are used to grab objects from afar and pull them towards the player. Alyx collects weapons throughout the game which can be upgraded at specific Combine upgrade stations; each upgrade costs a different amount of Resin, a resource that can be found throughout most of the game's environments.
