Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage is situated in the actual world, especially in Tokyo and Yokohama (both in the Kant area of the Greater Tokyo Area). Hatsune Miku and her companions are famous fictional singers who exist as Virtual Singers in the real world in this game. They sing songs from all over the world, but they also reside in "Sekai," a mystery universe separate from reality that is produced from a person's "genuine sentiments," with a variety of visual appearances dependent on the individual. There are as many Sekai as there are emotions, and the shape of the Sekai changes based on the feelings of the person. As a result, the game's focus is on the original characters and their quests to discover their "real sentiments" with the assistance of the Virtual Singers.
To enter Sekai, you must first locate and perform the song "Untitled." This silent song is developed at the same time as the Sekai and inexplicably implanted into their gadgets. The Singers can travel between the actual world and the Sekai when they perform a "Untitled" song. The song will have a playable melody and lyrics, as well as its title, as one is able to find their actual sentiments.
