id: Rebirth Session is a Japanese adult mystery visual novel which takes place on an island with a dangerous serial killer.

The player controls Shirou Hasegawa, a detective who is enlisted by Sakura Katase, the younger sister of one of Shirou's old friends, to find her missing brother. Their search takes them to a mysterious café called Cafe Seaside where several other individuals, twelve boys and girls, have gathered. When the masked bar owner announces that a "gathering" will soon occur on a remote island, Shirou, Sakura and the others travel there, only to find themselves trapped with what appears to be a serial killer picking them off one by one.

Although most of the game takes place from a first-person perspective, at certain points the viewpoint will switch to third-person, illustrating the thoughts of other characters. When investigating areas, the game switches to a "detective mode" where Shirou has the option to investigate, talk to a character, think, or move. The player has access to Shirou's notebook, which records clues and information about the characters, aiding the player in their investigation.

The iPad & iPhone versions exclude the sexual content that was in the Windows version. The PS Vita version also excludes the sexual content but introduces a new heroine, Riria, the younger sister of Shirou who has been thought dead since she was kidnapped when she was younger. When she returns on the island alive and well, Shirou must solve the mystery of her return.
